Do blind ending vas deferens and testicular vessels on inguinal exploration always indicate a vanishing testis?

چکیده
In nonpalpable testis cases, laparoscopically blind-ending vas deferens and testicular vessels prior to entering the internal ring is sufficient to diagnose a “vanishing” testis, which requires no further exploration. Laparoscopic identification of cord structures entering the internal ring is required the exploration of the inguinal canal to find a testis or to rule out a “vanishing” testis". However, the need for further investigation in cases that identified the blindending cord structures on inguinal canal is questioned. Herein, we present a case of the scrotal nubbin along with blind ending cord structures during inguinal

Management of an impalpable testis: the role of laparoscopy.
The use of laparoscopy through a small infraumbilical incision permits noninvasive exploration of the pelvic fossae. The vas deferens as well as the spermatic vessels can be identified either with the testicle or as a blind ending. Twenty-six laparoscopies were performed on 19 patients with unilateral impalpable testis and 7 with bilateral impalpable testis. In this small series, laparoscopy wa...
متن کاملDiscontinued Splenogonadal Fusion and Bilateral Empty Scrotum in an 18-Month-Old Boy
Splenogonadal fusion is a rare benign congenital anomaly defined as the presence of splenic tissue adherent to gonads. It was first described in 1883 by Bostroem, a German pathologist. We present a case of an 18-month-old boy who was referred as a case of bilateral empty scrotum since birth. During routine laparoscopic exploration, right vas deferens and testicular vessels were entering the rig...
متن کامل[The vanishing testis: diagnosis and histological findings].
PURPOSE Controversy exists on how to diagnose the vanishing testis and the degree of investigation required. In this series, we reviewed anatomical and histological findings in vanishing testes and investigated the effectiveness of diagnostic laparoscopy and imaging studies. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between 1974 and March 1999, 107 boys with nonpalpable testis underwent surgery. Of the total, 52...
متن کاملLaparoscopic diagnosis and treatment of nonpalpable testis.
OBJECTIVE Laparoscopy has become one of the important diagnostic modalities of nonpalpable testis and has been developed and applied in the treatment of this disease. In the present study, we investigated the usefulness of laparoscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of nonpalpable testis. METHODS Laparoscopy was carried out under general anesthesia on 21 patients (23 testes) from October 1991 ...
متن کاملThe Role of Cremaster Muscle as a Cause of Ascending Testis after Inguinal Hernia/Hydrocele Repair
Background Ascending testis (AT) is one of the rare but serious complication that may occurs following inguinal hernia/hydrocele repair. We aimed to review our more than 7 years’ experience and discuss the possible mechanism through which the AT possibly occurs following inguinal hernia/hydrocele repair. Materials and Methods A retrospective analysis of 7,212 boys who had undergone inguinal her...
